Toucan Jamaica is seeking a meticulous and experienced Part-Time Accountant to manage and maintain our financial records. This role offers the flexibility to work from home and requires a commitment of no more than 16 hours per month.
Job Title: Part Time Accountant
The Role:
The Tasks:
1. Data Entry
- Receivables and Payables:
- Process and enter 20 receivables and 20 payables monthly
- Reconcile clients’ accounts for payments received
- Reconcile vendors’ accounts for payments sent
- Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile the company’s two bank accounts (one USD and one JMD)
- Cloud Digital Filing:
- Organize and file payment receipts, bills, deposit books, and other financial documents digitally
2. Payroll and Bill Payments
- Payroll Preparation:
- Calculate and prepare payroll, including all tax calculations and deductions for 5 staff members
- Email pay slips to each staff member
- Vendor and Utility Payments:
- Prepare wire transfer payments for 10 vendors
- Pay utility bills using online banking
- Tax Filing:
- Ensure timely filing and payment of taxes as required by authorities.
3. Tax Liabilities Preparation
- Tax Management:
- Manage, process, and request payments for all taxes, including PAYE and corporate tax, on both a monthly and annual basis.
4. Registration & Filing
- Annual Compliance:
- Prepare and file annual company returns
- Prepare and file annual company financials
- Renew company registration with the PCC annually
Entry Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is preferred
- Experience:
- Proven experience in accounting, payroll, and tax preparation.
- Familiarity with Jamaican tax laws and regulations.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and online banking systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
